Proving you are never too young to embrace a STEM education, Colorado STEM Academy (CSA) is expanding next year to include full day Kindergarten as well as 1st and 2nd grade levels.
To make way for the expanded school, the District is renovating the nearby Union building which will be home to the 6th, 7th and 8th grade level students. The Board of Education approved a contract for the work earlier this fall so that construction will be completed by the start of next school year.
“A STEM education, even at a very young age, is all about critical thinking and embracing curiosity,” said Principal Anthony Matthews. “My staff is really excited that we will have a group of kids that we start with when they are five years old and they will be with us all the way through the 8th grade.”
CSA is District 50’s first Innovation School offering a rigorous education focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Research shows that there is a growing demand for students with those kinds of skills.
The first of several open houses for the CSA is scheduled for Tuesday December 15th 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the school located just north of 72nd on Irving Street.
CSA is open to students from both in and outside of District 50 boundaries.
